The 2019 Fall Foliage Festival is almost here! This year’s theme is There’s No Place Like Home…in the Berkshires! A celebration of the 80th anniversary of the film, The Wizard of Oz.
The following is a schedule of events taking place during the Fall Foliage Festival, beginning Thursday, Sept. 26th and concluding with the 64rd Annual Fall Foliage Parade on Sunday, October 6, 2019.

THURSDAY, Sept. 26th
Downtown North Adams
5 – 8 PM
This is the final DownStreet Art Thursday of the 2018 season, from 5 to 8 p.m. More info. TBA. DownStreet Art, the last-Thursday-of-the-month popup program of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts’ Berkshire Cultural Resource Center (MCLA BCRC), returns to downtown North Adams from 5-8 p.m.

Movies Under the Stars at Colegrove Park Presents ‘The Wizard of Oz’

Movie begins at dusk, approximately 7:00 p.m.
Join us for the last free family movie in Colegrove Park for the 2019 season. This month’s movie is the 1939 MGM classic, ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ Thank you to Adams Community Bank for sponsoring this series.

Children’s Races and Family Fair

Race Registration: 10:00 a.m.- 10:45 a.m./ Races at 11:00 a.m./ Awards ceremony at 12:00 p.m.
The northern Berkshire United Way, Youth Center Inc., and City of North Adams present this annual foot race and family fair. This event is free and open to all ages, with categories for various age groups, and awards for group winners. Best for ages 10 years and under.
The fair includes obstacle courses, games, give-a-ways, crafts, and magic! Children’s Fair booths are hosted by local community organizations. Awards are sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union.
Northern Berkshire Community Electronics Recycling & Paper Shredding

Sponsored by All Saints Episcopal Church and Northern Berkshire Solid Waste Management District. Disposal Fees (in support of All Saints): $5-10 for most items. LED/Flat Screen TVs $15 -50, CRT TVs/CRT monitors $15-50. No large appliances accepted (refrigerators, stoves, etc). No charge for paper shredding.
Open to all residents, businesses and schools in Berkshire County and Southern VT. Collect your old computers, laptops, monitors, TVs, air conditioners and more and bring them down. Also, watch your outdated sensitive documents shredded on site!
Wigwam Fall Foliage Sunset Serenade – Bernice Lewis

Joined by her daughter Moriah, Bernice Lewis turns to the Ladies Auxiliary Ukulele Orchestra and perform their first Sunset Serenade.
With almost four decades of performing festivals, concert halls, coffeehouses, colleges, along with a half dozen acclaimed CDs, Bernice Lewis has built a solid national fan base. She is also a published poet, a producer and an educator extraordinaire. Lewis has been a featured performer on NPR’s Mountain Stage program, as well as the Kennedy Center. She is The Artist Associate in Songwriting at Williams College, MA.

St. Elizabeth’s of Hungary will hold its annual ziti supper at the Parish Center. Dinner includes ziti and meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and a beverage. Desserts will also be available.

Annual Children’s Parade
Main Street North Adams
Registration begins: 4:30PM/ Lineup: 5 PM / Parade: 5:30 PM
Children from throughout the Northern Berkshire’s are encouraged to make costumes and enter the parade. This year’s theme is “There’s No Place Like Home in the Berkshires”. Participants must arrive at the corner of Main and Eagle streets at 5pm. Parade begins at 5:30 PM and will proceed west on Main St. to City Hall. Ribbons will be given to all participants. Group and float winners will be invited to participate in the Fall Foliage Parade on Sunday, October, 6,2019. Please note that groups should be 10 or less children, as there are only 10 medals that will be awarded per category/prize. Awards are sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union.

9th Annual Dog Parade

FREE but donations to local animal rescues accepted
All dogs are encouraged to participate. Owners are encouraged to make costumes and enter their dogs into this parade. This year’s parade theme is “There’s No Place Like Home in the Berkshires.” Categories are: funniest, best duo (owner and dog), best group (dogs), best small dog, best medium-sized dog, and best large dog. Prizes will be awarded following the parade and ribbons will be given to all participants. Dog parade winners will be invited to participate in the Fall Foliage Parade. Annual Blessing of the Animals
St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and Parish Center off St. Anthony Drive.
The Annual Blessing of the Animals is held on the same day as the Dog Parade. Sat Sept 29 11AM in the driveway between St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and Parish Center off St. Anthony Drive by the statue of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals. Rev. Dariusz Wudarski will be blessing the animals. All types are welcome and will receive treats from parishioners.
