A community book club featuring selections from exhibiting artist Cauleen Smith’s BLK FMNNST Loaner Library 1989–2019 — paintings of the covers of must-read texts. Discussions take place over three sessions this fall.

Octavia Butler’s riveting science fiction novel Parable of the Sower is set in 2024 LA and told through the eyes of a fifteen-year-old African-American girl; the dystopian vision is eerily prescient.
