At this month’s workshop, “Exploring Protest Music,” participants will look at the role that music has played as catalyst for change across the ages. We will discuss how artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Public Enemy, Nina Simone, Bob Marley and many others made a social change with their music. Then, participants will try their hand at writing a protest song relevant to today.
This workshop will be lead by local musician Marisa Massery. Born and raised in the Berkshires in Western MA, her most joyful passion is music and singing. She studied conflict, transformation, and specifically the connection between music and peace-building.
Free and open to high school and college age youth.
Registration is not required, but appreciated! Please go to the link below to let us know you’ll be attending!
