Event Details

Ferrin Contemporary, in partnership with Heller Gallery (NYC), is pleased to present MELTING POINT, a group exhibition of glass and ceramic artists whose use of the melting point is central to their practice. Across two locations the exhibition features nearly 100 works by 22 artists. The artists, both established and emerging, explore the inherent physical qualities of materials that are formed and reformed by melting, as well as express their concern for the environmental melting point our planet seems to be approaching.

ARTIST TALK

MELTING MATERIALS: 1970-2021

Sat., July 24, 3-4 pm, free

Join co-curators Leslie Ferrin and Katya Heller for a lively discussion with artists Sydney Cash, Raymon Elozua, Tom Patti and Sally Silberberg who all hail from the Hudson/Berkshires region to hear from the “original melters” and how exploring material in the 70s formed their unique, vibrant, and textural work.

They will be joined by Bobby Silverman, from NYC and Gregg Moore from Philadelphia who speaks for many in the show when he says: “I tiptoe to the edge of the melting point and most often stop but, in this case, I went over the edge.”
